Our Story

ConcretArte

Chulas was born in Trinidad de Cuba, a small town of artisans, declared a World Heritage Site and Artisanal City of the World by UNESCO. In 2020, in the midst of the rich tradition of this city, Zeydi Valera founded the ConcretArte project. With a fresh and daring vision, ConcretArte emerged to connect traditional weaving techniques with current fashion, making crochet handbags that were previously seen only as souvenirs for tourists trendy.

Our Story

Closer to new generations

From the beginning, Zeydi dedicated herself to revaluing these crafts, bringing them closer to new generations and taking them beyond local borders. ConcretArte not only rescued traditional techniques, but also empowered local artisans, allowing them to access new markets within the island.

Our Story

Chulas

In 2023, Zeydi arrived in the United States with a dream: to bring the art of Trinidadian crochet to the world. This is how Chulas was born, an online store where each bag is a unique piece of work, handmade with dedication and love. Chulas is not just a brand; it is a celebration of craftsmanship, slow fashion, and the beauty that emerges when tradition meets modernity. Here, each piece tells a story, and each stitch is a tribute to our roots and our women weavers.
